StayClassy officially opened nominations for the 4th Annual CLASSY Awards competition. The CLASSY Awards is the largest philanthropic award ceremony in the country, recognizing the greatest achievements by thousands of charities, individuals and socially conscious businesses worldwide. The competition will culminate at a red-carpet Award Ceremony on September 22, 2012 in San Diego, CA. There are multiple categories, including Volunteer of the Year and Most Influential College Student or College Organization
Campus Compact offers several awards that recognize excellence in public service by faculty, staff, students and institutions. The Howard R. Swearer Student Humanitarian Award recognizes five students each year for their outstanding public service and provides a financial award to further their continuing community engagement efforts. Each state Compact conducts a competition and submits finalists for the national award selection process.
The Frank Newman Leadership Award The Frank Newman Leadership Award recognizes students with financial need and civic leadership potential and provides both financial support and mentorship to help them achieve their academic and civic goals. Each state Compact conducts a competition and submits finalists for the national award selection process.
The Thomas Ehrlich Faculty Award for Service-Learning The Ehrlich Faculty Award for Service-Learning recognizes one faculty member for exemplary leadership in advancing the civic learning of students, including public scholarship, building campus commitment to service-learning and civic engagement, and fostering reciprocal community partnerships. Application and selection are administered through the national Campus Compact office.
Other Awards The Carter Academic Service Entrepreneur (CASE) program, funded by the Jimmy and Roslyn Carter Partnership Foundation, provides awards to a student-generated project with a community partner and a campus faculty mentor.
The Students4Giving initiative, funded by The Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund, will provide educational resources and initial funding to engage students in strategic grant-making activities within the context of community-based learning. Each participating school will be allocated $15,000 in assets earmarked exclusively for charitable purposes, as well as funds for administrative support.
